Flavour Productions
in Portugal are currently producing promotional videos for
a series of villa developments in the Algarve, and with such
a heavy workload we came in to help out with 3d modeling for
the Vale Formoso scheme.
We started with the 2D CAD scheme drawings produced by the
architects which covered the general exterior views for the
the 6 villas, the internal room layouts and the garden, street
and swimming pool details.
From there on it was
question of combining all the information shown in the various
drawings into a 3d model that matched the architects layouts,
and also made sense as an object in 3 dimensions.
Each villa has 3 bedrooms,
a balcony from the master bedroom and a private pool in a
large garden. The roof detail is the traditional Portuguese
halfround tile set in concrete with ridge-tiles and each villa
also has 2 chimneys in the Algarvian style.
Although each villa is based around a simialr pla, there were
enough differences in the details that each one became a job
in itself, and with each one also having a large multilevel
garden with surrounding walls and a swimming pool, there were
plenty of things to cover.
The advantage of modeling
in detail for a project of this type is that it really helps
sell the images as representing something "real"
and draws your impression away from the computer generated
idea, while still keeping all the advantages of having a "house"
with everything in it's correct proportions.
The surface details
and the animation of the project was being carried out by
the Portuguese team, so the images you see at this stage are
a simple shaded view of the 3d geometry, waiting to be "dressed
up" and incorporated into the video production.
