Shot during October
2004 these video clips will form a segment covering in Diversion
video magazine the BMX flatland scene in the Algarve, Portugal.
BMX flatland rider
are spread widely through the world, but more and more are
forming their own community through Internet forums and flatland
specific videos.
Diversion is the brainchild
of Bobby Carter who now lives in Los Angeles after completing
his film making studies, and is known for it's high quality
of cinematography and it's coverage of flatland from the "lifestyle"
angle.
Bobby had always said
he'd like to get some footage of the many riders in the Algarve,
especially as they are relatively unknown, despite their amazing
skills and creativity. All of the riders are continuously
pushing their riding forwards, inventing new tricks and mastering
them in their own unique styles.
As things happened
time was very short, and all the filming was compressed into
2 very busy days, spent traveling between various cities along
the south coast of Portugal and filming the riding and interviews.
With the footage completed
it was back to Shetland to sort out the best clips and begin
the post-processing work - stabilising the image, tweaking
the exposure and colour levels and adding virtual camera filters
and effects on the computer editing station to give a really
Mediterranean look to the images.
Completed images were
mastered to digital video cassettes and couriered to LA, where
Bobby Carter was waiting to begin editing.
The Algarve scene
report footage will appear in Diversion Video Magazine issue
5, on sale worldwide from April 2005.
