As the proposals to build
a bridge across Lerwick harbour to link the island of Bressay to
the Shetland mainland continue to be discussed a series of updated
images of the proposals were required.
High quality digital images were taken froma range of sites overlooking
the bridge and 3 main locations choosen.
The bridge was modeled in 3d from the CAD drawings of the current
design, with the latest details for earthworks and roads alignments
also added.

The photos were digitall matched to a virtual camera in a 3d modeling
program to make sure that the locations and perspectives of the
3d elements matched all the exisiting features perfectly.

All the 3d elements were
textures with painted images drawn from a number of real life photos
and the scene was illuminated to match the lighting conditions in
the photos. The 3d elements were then taken into Photoshop to be
combined with the photos. Working at the very high resolution of
the digital photos meant everything had to be masked togetehr precisesly,
but gave the best quality and an extremely good match between the
real and the proposed elemetns in the final images.

The completed series of images, including cleaned up "before
