A short video clip
showing the proposed Bressay Bridge as it would appear as
a part of the landscape.
The Shetland Islands
Council has plans to construct a 800m bridge to link the island
of Bressay to the Shetland mainland in the near future.
This clip was produced
to give a true photo-realistic view of the bridge as it would
look on site, using advanced compositing methods to match
a bridge model to a moving video clip of Bressay sound.
A video sequence was filmed on site, positioned at a suitable
location to give a good view of the bridge if it were already
there.
A 3D model of the
bridge was constructed based on the CAD plans of the structure
and surfacing details added.
A matchmoving operation
was carried out to analyze the motion of the camera in 3D
and provide a match to a virtual camera opperating in the
£d animation program.
By locating the 3D model at the correct location the images
of the bridge produced then matched the properties of the
video.
Further work was carried
out in post production to better match the lighting, colour
ranges and "look" of the 3d elements to the original
video and to blend the parts together to a convincing whole.
This clip gives an idea of some of the posibilites for matching
video shots of the existing, with 3D and composites of the
proposed to give a true impression of the finished structure.
